Yes, exactly, the neighbor’s garage is directly adjacent on the south side. And the neighbor’s building is also very close to the new construction. That’s why we’re considering whether the north side might also have certain advantages. Spontaneously, you always think of the south… You have the west orientation in the garden, as well as the east orientation at the entrance.

...aren't those your partners or acquaintances? Have you asked them directly yet, maybe this question doesn't even arise. If both sides would prefer the same thing, one could come up with a significant advantage for the person who would then step back. Ideally, this would be such an advantage (possibly financial) that one would be satisfied with and willing to give up. As future close neighbors, you will have to solve many issues together, and in this case I wouldn't find flipping a coin appropriate, but rather a mutually developed solution. I would handle that openly among each other.

Yes, we know each other from the house search and they already said before confirming the plot that they want the south side (left side).

If this also applies to you, then you initially have a "problem" that should be solved in a way that you are permanently satisfied with. Therefore, you should ask them directly how this could be resolved amicably, since (possibly?) both prefer the same property. Whether one side is "better" or not cannot be said, but neither side should be left with a feeling of disadvantage. This will be the first test on which future matters can also be assessed. I find this exciting but also really important, and one should not too far push away Loriot's "Kosakenzipfel," because Loriot mostly took his themes from people's daily lives. So, if you would also like this side, then address it clearly and then see how you can sweeten the retreat for one side. Otherwise, I already see a possible cog in the gears that could repeatedly show itself. I think, if discussed openly and honestly, this can also be resolved so that both sides are satisfied.

I prefer the northern half. The large tree on No. 6, which has a much greater impact on the southern half, bothers me. You might even have more light in the north (in the afternoon, when you are at home).
