In many cases (also with us) it does not work that the woman can "alone" catch everything, as women often earn significantly less. If my income fails, we still have reserves for 1-2 years. Then it's over. Therefore, we should never build..

Hi, if the OP actually leaves out both, a saving of >> 100k is possible in the region. Demand is still high there and the supply currently quite limited. But what you mentioned can be had for 250k + notary + trade tax......in view of the existing equity, the amounts are brutally/significantly relativized and would come to a range that would actually be good (= comparatively very manageable).

We also live without a basement: before the move (from 150sqm living space to 110), we did a thorough decluttering, now there is endless space. And we no longer keep anything with the motto "we might need this again". Usually you don’t......A friend of mine recently found jam from 1974 in his parents' basement......I just had to laugh.
Garages: we don’t have those either.......it’s a luxury, personally I don’t need it (nor does my wife) for living.

Regards Thorsten

For salaried employees in the metal industry, the following applies: Private accident insurance is only needed for private accidents (sports, leisure, etc.) Occupational accidents are covered by the BG. Likewise, occupational disability due to occupational accidents. Therefore, private occupational disability insurance is only for "private" occupational disability (e.g. stroke). Different for example for self-employed persons.

I’ll abuse my own thread so I don’t have to start a new one again.

We might now have the opportunity to join a [Baugemeinschaft].
In a first conversation, it was said that the architect calls for a price of 3000€ per sqm for the house (KFW55) including garage, basement, and outdoor facilities. The plot is purchased separately from the city and is therefore not included in the 3000€.
I know the info is sparse, we have another conversation in the coming days but just want to get a rough feel whether the price could be right.
Has anyone maybe had experience with a [Baugemeinschaft]? Are savings actually to be expected compared to awarding all the work individually? Meaning volume discount :)

Unfortunately, I can't help you with experiences, but allow me a brief follow-up question: The originally mentioned property here was supposed to cost about 3000,- Euro/sqm and that was too expensive for you. Now you want to buy for 3000,- plus land and that fits again?! ;-)

If you look at it very precisely, the original property was just under €3500 per square meter when you realistically include the own contribution (material + time expenditure); this actually discouraged us from the whole topic. There is a significantly higher burden regarding property transfer tax/notary fees because it is calculated on the purchase price. For the new property, the ancillary costs apply to the land, which alone results in a saving of about €15,000 on this item.
