Then it is not a property developer, which is an advantage here.

Why an OSB panel house instead of a solid construction?

Windows and doors are too expensive.
Plaster and painters are too expensive.
Tiles and flooring are too expensive.
Heating, ventilation, earthworks are too expensive.

The depreciation of a house built using timber frame construction will be enormous. I neither want to build, own, nor buy something like that. It always feels like a weekend bungalow. But for those who want that, you just have to look at what prefabricated houses from the 80s are still worth today. And we will not see the real estate market situation continue like this for another 20 years.

If a dry rot ever settles in, it can be torn down. Or pest infestation in the cavity insulation. Chemical contamination of the building materials.

One just has to look at what has changed since then…

Unfortunately, many only see what they want to see, even if it is old prejudices. Your personal preference for solid construction is of course your prerogative.

You're doing it right! Calling the suppliers. Besides electricity, water is also relevant. You don't have gas anyway. Surveying costs, building permit, connecting the rainwater downspouts to the disposal/soakaway/cistern (since also cistern plus connection to sewage) Amazing! Seriously... I would put up a double carport for 15,000. 50,000 is pearls before swine... the cost-benefit ratio is off. My opinion You build that with a general contractor. Not a property developer. Splash protection around the house Terrace I would also have done. For 50,000 there is a lot of added value that is really worth it ;) Isn't there a construction cost thread about additional building costs here? Try the search in the top right :)

In the 80s, the sellers also praised the advantages of prefabricated houses to the skies. And what has become of it. Contaminated, smelly dumps. Bought for a lot of money back then.

I don’t know why it should be different today. Even if nowadays, instead of using formaldehyde-contaminated chipboard, people prefer OSB boards. But I am not convinced about their harmless ingredients either. And if something harmful is found in 10 years, the whole house will just be hazardous waste. I much prefer a PoroTON house.
