Working outside is not ergonomic at all.
But at least I now understand where many people's prejudices against home office come from...
Attached is my workplace (untidy). There's no "I sit on the terrace," not to mention the chair and the height-adjustable desk...

But this is generalizing again. Not every home office requires 2 or 3 monitors. Many employees are only provided with a laptop by their employer. That's the case for my husband and my friend, too. For example, she has to read and evaluate a lot of files and then only do a few things on the laptop. Reading files works wonderfully outside. Doing the tasks on the laptop does too.

It's not about the monitors, but about ergonomic working. For 8 hours a day, you need a good desk and a good chair. Terrace furniture is not designed for that.

Well ... reading files on paper ... maybe. But reading files for 8 hours at a screen workstation, I also consider an unergonomic sitting posture to be wrong. And working at the screen .. directly in the sun rather not. You need a shady spot, etc.

I consider it not very sensible to implement full-fledged screen workstations purely with laptops. I allow myself this judgment after 40 years of screen work without ever suffering from back/neck pain, no tendonitis in the hands, etc. In my opinion, proper equipment (18 years of home office) in PC/laptop and furniture is to blame.

But you can put the office chair at the dining table, which is the same height as the desk. And as I said, not everyone sits only at the PC.

"Home office" at the dining table, no thanks! For me, that requires a height-adjustable desk, a good office chair, proper lighting, good technical equipment, and a separate room from the living space. Nothing is more annoying than having the neighbor's dog barking constantly in the background during a video call, children screaming, and traffic noise. Certainly, there are also jobs where you can lie somewhere on the terrace, but the majority will need a proper workplace.
