Ikea recently also has such panels in their range. But no idea if they are any good.

The drivers are external. Either space has been provided in the ceiling through junction boxes or a suspended ceiling, or drivers in the HAR. There are many ways.

Lifespan varies greatly because no one really knows what has been installed. However, E14 and E27 retrofit cannot be compared with this, because due to the limited space and defined dimensions, the components simply die from heat.

With an external driver, however, there is definitely better heat management, and so the lamps generally last as promised. And the driver can also be replaced without having to replace the lamp itself. Certainly, the LEDs can also be damaged, then everything has to be replaced, but that is rather rare.

I think they are rather in the higher price segment. That would be easy to build. There is a bit more intelligence involved. Tunable white only adjusts the light color but usually does not correct the very limited frequency spectrum of the LEDs. It is the latter that makes the light color-accurate like outdoors. That is also one of the reasons why LED lights with identical light color e.g. 3000K and identical CRI can look very different. The difference is quite clearly visible. A strange example to show that two or three measurement parameters are not enough: A violin and a piano can both play the tuning note A (440Hz) at the same volume (dB). But they don’t sound the same. Just as it is worth listening carefully to sound systems, it is worth looking carefully at light. Experiencing it is better for a good purchase than relying solely on the significance of technical parameters – as important as they are.

Yes, but it doesn't change the fact that with 5 panels and a Tunable White driver it is still possible as shown in the picture.

Of course, it is a science in itself and the intelligence lies in the driver that can do Tunable White. Some drivers more, others less. And of course, the panels must meet the same light reproduction parameters.

Tunable White is not equal to Tunable White. There are already huge differences. And sometimes what is sold as TW makes your hair stand on end. You look at it and think: Really? Are they serious?

Ok, that interests me now. My wife prefers glaringly bright cold light, I would like twilight. Which manufacturers of Tuneable White LED panels are there that can cover this range? Or how can you recognize this when doing your own research?

Touching and looking is the best way, Hampshire is completely right about that.
