Dear forum members,

I would like to build a single-family house with a heat pump and carry out a deep drilling for this purpose.

Problems in my opinion - possible mining legacy contamination (Erzgebirge).

In another post, I also read that the water authority has raised an objection:

"Jetzt hat uns die örtliche Wasserbehörde einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht und lässt keine Tiefenbohrung zu."

I would therefore like to know where problems generally lie and how these can be recognized early and avoided?

Best regards,

Florian

PS: The construction company says that a deep drilling would be unproblematic.
PPS: After the planning process, I would rather not be surprised by insurmountable problems.

Let me tell you what the drilling company charges per meter... if you are drilling into rock, it may well be that it's not worth it at all.
Lower Saxony has a website where all drillings are listed. Maybe you have something like that as well. Here, you can nicely see the yield per meter and who in the neighborhood already has deep drillings. If you have something like that, just go to your neighbors and ask how it went.
Furthermore: before you award the contract, apply for [BAFA].

Rock is actually ideal for drilling, depending on the material it's best for heat exchange. It also does not cost extra; this is daily business for every drilling company. The single-family house drillings are really not deep compared to what the companies can drill. Otherwise, call the authorities and inquire; the permit should be prepared by the drilling company, and if it is rejected, you won't have to pay for the drilling, at most a little for the work on the permit.

And the drilling can be carried out independently of a [BAFA] application.

Are you sure about that? The information sheet from Bafa states:

The guidelines of the Market Incentive Program (MAP) have been revised and have introduced new technical funding requirements for heat pumps with newly installed geothermal probe systems since April 1, 2015 (effective date of the current funding guidelines) (see No. IV 3.4, 1) g). These are:

[*]“Funding for heat pumps installed simultaneously with a geothermal probe drilling requires that the drilling was carried out according to the quality requirements of the Technical Rule DVGW W120-2 and that a no-fault insurance against unforeseen property damage has been taken out.”

I would definitely inquire whether you can first drill somehow and still claim the funding afterwards.

Yes, I am sure - your text does not say anything to the contrary anyway, but rather reinforces it, because insurance and certification are only obtained with a contract to a drilling company.

Drilling and commissioning the heating installation are two different things.
