What are you planning to do with the planting containers filled with gravel?

We went to another natural stone dealer today and asked about prices. Then back to the other one where there were 108 x 20 x 10 long basalt stones lying around as a "special item." We will probably order these for our vegetable bed: 4 pieces laid upright as squares will probably make one vegetable bed, then 2 or even 3 of those.... we probably won’t get to 80 sqm for now. After that, we went to Metro since it was on the way: super cheap boxwoods about 40 cm high and about 25 cm in circumference for just under 8 €, packed three pieces, a 40 cm ball for under 20 €, also picked up Mediterranean herbs. I will probably have to start writing down the planting costs to keep track.

I also want to cut the lawn – but we don’t have one yet.

The plant tubs are our property boundary because we are about 1 m above the neighbor's property.... they had to be installed to catch the property. We filled them with gravel so that nothing grows anymore. Because eventually something goes wrong. The neighbor, who planted a corkscrew tree, had the tubs torn apart last summer... And it is difficult to reach them at our place since they are behind the herb garden...

Your plan looks great. I like it very much. If only we were already that far along. How will you design the path and house? We have planned that too. And how big will your east terrace be?

The plan has not been implemented yet
You will have a nice terrace roof, which is already being planned now
We won’t
And you can already use the time to remember the position of the sun for window and terrace planning...
Our east terrace will probably only be about 5 sqm and is only intended for breakfast for two or to rest in the shade in the afternoon when the sun is burning
Around the house, the gravel border will be one meter wide so that we can place pots here or use it as a path (if you don’t use the lawn to stroll anyway)
Over the weekend, we planted the cherry laurel in the west

Yes, it doesn’t go that fast after all, but at least your house is finished. And it really looks great in the picture. Exactly my taste

We also want a "mini terrace" but on the north side, since that’s where the play garden is. That way you can comfortably watch the children playing and escape the sun. However, we don’t know yet whether we’ll actually build it directly next to the house in total shade or somehow with evening sun?!
But we still have time.

The south terrace, on the other hand, is fixed (it will also be poured with the base slab) and will be about the size shown in the picture in my post. Half of it covered.

For our path we thought of a gravel bed with individual stepping stones on top. Because we had bad experiences here with the over-the-grass-walking option (it got totally trampled to pieces). Unlike you, we only have a narrow west strip next to the house. The same spot is always stressed there. We’re just collecting ideas.

Nice that the hedge is in place. That really changes a construction site appearance quite a bit.

Then have fun with the gardening.
