Piece of the old Atlantic siphon at the sink overflow

Hello,

I had my kitchen installed in the new apartment and the more I look at the kitchen, the more I notice that the kitchen fitter (not from Ikea) did a poor job. For example, he installed the sink, attached the new Atlant siphon, but left the drain at the overflow opening from the old Atlant siphon. Now, theoretically I could replace it, but I cannot remove it because the sink is already installed and sealed to the countertop with silicone. Is there a way to use the old connection at the overflow with the new Atlant siphon or maybe connect this white hose to the new one?

I would be very grateful for help. I don’t want to take the whole sink out again.

Best regards,

Hans

Hello,

Before I tinker with it myself, I would call the technician back in. The new siphon is probably Lillviken (Atlant is no longer available).
You can also remove the overflow without dismantling the basin; whether you can attach the new one depends on the space between the basin and the wall.

Which sink is it? There are sinks for which a connector piece is supplied for the overflow because it does not fit the siphon at all. Then the old one has to be used.

Hello,

Thank you for the answers. Yes, I don't want the kitchen installer here anymore unless it's absolutely necessary. The sink is Boholmen (but the old version). Bought two years ago. The overflow from the Atlant siphon is still attached. Is there an adapter solution for that? Otherwise, I would just rig something. The overflow only becomes important if it's urgent and the basin overflows. Otherwise, it's relatively unimportant, right?

That has to be really tight, otherwise you'll have a huge mess if anything gets into the overflow. You should be able to install the overflow without having to remove much. Monkey arms or a second person can be helpful. Have you looked at the installation instructions?

Hello,

I have now managed to install the overflow. However, from time to time and just now again, I have the following acute problem: the water does not drain or drains very slowly, it bubbles and gurgles as if air is being sucked in, and after I fill the entire basin and drain the water all at once, the drain works well; sometimes it also stays fine for a while afterwards. Does anyone have an idea what might be going on? Did I do something wrong? Earlier, the dishwasher was draining, and the water rose in the sink. Could it be that something is wrong with the siphon or maybe with the drain pipe behind it? Here is a photo of the siphon:

Best regards,

HansHubert.
