Storage is currently only economical with subsidies. The ratio of photovoltaic to storage should be roughly between 1.2 and 1.6. For a 5 kWh storage, at least a 6 kWp photovoltaic system is required. Better rather 7-8 kWp.

In my opinion, a photovoltaic system with 3 kWp does not make economic sense. That is a maximum of 8-9 modules. The modules cost around 1k and inverter, installation, and connection at least 4k.

You should get an 8 kWp system for a net price of 9-10k.

How large is your roof area? What are the dimensions? If you don't have windows on a normal gable roof, you should easily fit 8-10 kWp on it.

We will be building soon and have decided on 13.29 kWp. This will fully utilize the two most powerful sides of the roof. The costs are manageable. They amount to €16,200 (gross). You will get the value-added tax back. So you end up at about €13,620 (net), which is about €1,000 per kWp.

The purchase of the storage depends on subsidies from the respective state. In Brandenburg, there are none, so no storage will be purchased for now.

Hello,
also consider including the East/West surfaces in the planning and possibly equipping them with modules.
For example, I have equipped all three sides EAST/WEST and SOUTH and have also reached just over 13 kWp.
I also "acquired" the storage because I received a subsidy (Brandenburg).
Otherwise, the "economic efficiency" is rather poor. Now I am very satisfied, as it supplies me throughout the entire night until early morning.
It also "heats/feeds" my air-water heat pump with it overnight.

Then that was the old subsidy, which unfortunately expired months ago. I hope that a new subsidy will come next year, then I will also buy a storage unit.

An American car manufacturer from Grünheide has announced a dynamic electricity tariff, initially only in connection with its storage. No longer a fixed 7ct / 32ct, but cheaper for the customer. Maybe this is the start for dynamic electricity tariffs and reimbursements from 1 - 20ct, depending on the time of day or the electricity market trend. Then the entire calculation of profitability changes.
