Yes, honestly. I can recognize something on the one, but it looks intentional. They are two different stones. To me, it looks like a drainage groove or something like that. On the other one, I just lack the reference. It could be anything from 1mm to 1cm, depending on how big the stones are. And then personally, I would have thought that larger tolerances are "normal" in outdoor areas. But I realize I need to be more picky...

The image shows the substructure. Crushed stone compacted and gravel on top. The walls were sealed as part of the insulation and exterior plastering. That was done by the painting company at the time. A dimpled membrane was installed by the landscaping contractor.

Hello fortuneflake

Sealing to the house is ok. The structure appears to be RCL. About 40cm need to be excavated and compacted in layers. Has this been done, or was the RCL (gravel) completely filled up and then vibrated down? It is not clearly visible in the picture. 5 cm of gravel 2/5 must be placed on the RCL, smoothed out, and then the slabs are laid on top. The stones on the wall and those in the rectangle: Are they laid in concrete? And if so, they seem to have simply been placed on concrete. All unprofessional. The stones at the house look as if they were not laid horizontally. You can already see a height difference. Do you have one or two more pictures of the excavated condition?

Hopefully, enough has been excavated. Yes, the stones are set in concrete. The rectangle is the raised bed border.

I don't see any sealing there, at least not in the pictures. The guy simply miscalculated and set the curbstones too deep. I estimate there is also too little gravel underneath. You will never be able to compact that to a level, you might as well have it taken down again.

Here are a few more impressions.

The chippings are definitely due to the incorrect installation?
