Hi,
thanks for your answers, which have helped me a lot. The path surface was compacted several times back then with a kind of "gravel" (0-8mm grain size). Only some small stones come loose over time/load/weather conditions.
In summary, I can now proceed as follows:
1. Loosen the path surface/top layer and remove the necessary centimeters
I would probably do this with a hoe/rake because it is only an area of 10x3.50 m. I already tried earlier, and everything loosens very well and quickly with a pickaxe.
2. Then set concrete edging stones in earth-moist concrete and align them to final height with a rubber mallet.
3. Put about 5 cm of gravel (2-5mm) between the concrete edging stones, paying attention to the slope, and then compact once with a vibrating plate.
4. Then simply place the paving stones on the compacted surface on the gravel.
5. Brush fine gravel into the joints.
Is that correct?
Do I have to compact again after brushing in the fine gravel or even wait some time before a car can park on it?
And is "simple" garden post concrete, on which you pour water from a watering can and then work with, sufficient for the concrete edging stones?
