My parquet dealer has also been laying his parquet continuously for a long time. I will do the same (approx. 90sqm).

We have a longest section of 10m, width also about 9m. The adhesive remains slightly rubbery, not like mortar. What can happen? I assume it is a nut feather package? Then it would open at the transition and a gap would form. But that will pretty much certainly not happen :) And if it does, then redo it at that spot and insert a joint. But don’t worry!

By "parquet" I understand "small-cut wood," assembled. We had it installed in our house without joints at the doors (there is space everywhere towards the walls). Parquet has a lot of joints anyway. They absorb a lot – and over the years the wood will overall shrink rather than swell. I would leave it as it is and enjoy the lack of joints. If a dent should form somewhere (that's probably the concern, because it won't "tear"), it would of course be unfortunate ... but: there is always a risk ...

Thank you all for the many responses :). We were informed about shrinking at low humidity. We will probably leave it as it is and enjoy the gap-free joints, hoping that the tongue and groove connections provide enough room for movement.

My experience with the installation of multi-layer country house planks on screed with underfloor heating without an expansion joint between the rooms on each floor (total approx. 90-100m² per floor) – after several years and with 3 floors = no problem. The screed also has no expansion joints. For that, I am still pleased not to have any of these ugly joints.

We also have no expansion joints in the parquet on the upper floor. Why should we? It is one material and therefore has the same coefficient of expansion. The different temperatures in the rooms are too low to cause any effect.
