So I have Doussie parquet throughout almost the entire house. Even after 10 years, you can't see any wear. Beautiful warm color. The wood is very hard and water-resistant. Nothing happens at all. More likely if water gets to the base wood, which is only spruce.

I would then try to get solid wood parquet and glue it flatly to the floor. Provided it's the right wood, absolutely nothing happens.

The wood called Doussié, Edelkirsche, or Brillantkirsche from West African species is very resistant to fungi.

Its high density results in a hardness significantly greater than teak or oak, as well as good thermal conductivity, making the wood especially suitable as a covering for heated floors. Besides parquet, it is used for stairs, doors and windows, tables, and boat building. The wood is initially yellowish to light brown in color and later turns reddish-brown.

It is also widely used in boat building and is practically indestructible.

Attention! On the left in a four-liner.., respect! You name sources when you do not write it yourself, but quote it. Here from Wikipedia.

I have engineered wood flooring in the bathroom. In the previous apartment, I had lacquered engineered wood flooring in the bathroom, now I have oiled parquet. I wouldn’t want anything else anymore, I find it beautiful, pleasant, and also easy to maintain. I have a shower mat placed before the entrance to the shower and in front of the sink. It’s not extra work, in my opinion. After showering, I look around once to see if a lot has spilled over. Mostly it hasn’t, occasionally I wipe quickly with the towel. Takes 2 seconds. I don’t find tiles very pleasant and have never thought about putting them in the bathroom. Especially where I’m barefoot and want to feel comfortable.

I also thought for a long time about laying parquet in the bathroom like in the rest of my small apartment. I then decided on tiles because I am rather lazy when it comes to cleaning and was told (and I also believe) that, in general, tiles are more "forgiving". For me, the combination of underfloor heating and flooring was also easier to implement (in the rest of the apartment I have wall heaters).

If I were to build again, I would implement my wishes even more consistently and let myself be influenced even less, in other words, I would choose parquet ;). I also know from bathrooms at friends and family that at least parts of the bathroom have wooden floors, sometimes even "just" solid pine planks. And that works too ...

With parquet on the floor, it's better to plan an additional wall heating in the bathroom.
