So I have Doussie parquet throughout almost the entire house. Even after 10 years, you can't see any wear. Beautiful warm color. The wood is very hard and water-resistant. Nothing happens at all. More likely if water gets to the base wood, which is only spruce.
I would then try to get solid wood parquet and glue it flatly to the floor. Provided it's the right wood, absolutely nothing happens.
The wood called Doussié, Edelkirsche, or Brillantkirsche from West African species is very resistant to fungi.
Its high density results in a hardness significantly greater than teak or oak, as well as good thermal conductivity, making the wood especially suitable as a covering for heated floors. Besides parquet, it is used for stairs, doors and windows, tables, and boat building. The wood is initially yellowish to light brown in color and later turns reddish-brown.
It is also widely used in boat building and is practically indestructible.
