Hello dear DIY community,
We are having problems with our real wood parquet flooring in the living room. For some time now, cracks between the wooden planks have increasingly appeared, reaching a width of up to 4 mm. I want to fill the cracks with a parquet filler compound, but I fear that this might prevent the wood from expanding. Ultimately, I am unclear why such significant cracks are forming at all; in any case, I do not want to leave it like this. Could it be because the [Einliegerwohnung] is no longer inhabited and the parquet therefore receives less heat from below? Our house is already 40 years old, and no special structural measures have been taken in recent years.
