I see it the same way. We even have three fixed parking spaces and two unofficial ones, a green area that can be driven on in case more guests come or for larger deliveries. Besides, I always find it great when the streets are fully parked because the residents have deliberately created too few parking spaces. The same goes for the public parking strips, which are usually intended for visitors but are used for 2nd, 3rd, or 4th vehicles or often trailers or caravans of the residents. Regarding enforcement, you can be lucky or not. Here, for example, the responsible employee changed, and the new one checked the driveway widths of the properties, urged neighbors to remove weeds growing toward the street during their vacation within a deadline, and more such things that never interested the predecessor.

The fact is that I want to place a lean-to garden house in that spot to at least have some storage space since we don't have a basement. There is plenty of space around for parking. If there really are problems, I will just put a prefab garage there and will not use it for my car either. We definitely have one parking space, but I also don't find any information that two are required.

So what is it now? You already gave yourself the answer!

Then take a look at the garage regulations of your federal state in connection with the building code and municipal regulations. Garages are not allowed to be used as storage rooms or as a substitute for basements.

Maybe you should reconsider your planning. I find it quite stubborn to forego necessary storage space (e.g. basement) at the expense of the general public (parking in public traffic areas)...

Even if there are more replicas

Especially in rural areas there are few dedicated parking spaces on the street, so the car is parked on the street. As long as only 1-2 people do this, it’s not a problem, but if many start doing it, the residential street becomes single-lane. There is surely also the possibility to place a garden shed elsewhere on the property. The subforum for land planning will certainly be happy to help you with that

I wouldn’t want you as a neighbor. The two parking spaces are there so that you have the cars on your own property and don’t block everything. Missing parking spaces for visitors, etc., are a nuisance for the neighbors. Likewise, possible dangers for playing children. I wouldn’t underestimate that either.

Well, actually you check the regulations before purchasing and then compare them with your own wishes. If it doesn’t match, then it’s either the wrong property or you have to make compromises. Needing more storage space should also be identified and considered during planning, otherwise it was planned incorrectly. Here, it seems that the wrong property and poor planning come together.
