I do not consider 5 providers for a trade to be too many at all. Especially not if you are uncertain and want to turn the euros more often. And why should I care what effort a provider has for an offer? That is the wrong argument for a consumer.

To me, that sounds super cheap; if I had the impression that proper work is done and proper material is used, I would accept without a second offer. If you apply the above factor of 0.4 for material, about one week’s labor remains. Ambitious...

The more I think about it... the wage is 42 gross. Material for it, that will probably work out. He is supposed to first fill, sand, if necessary fill again, sand again, primer, fleece, paint, in the bathroom fiberglass, over that latex. It is probably rather inexpensive. I know that he is very precise. I know other projects he has done. Karsten

If the services you are talking about are also written down in black and white in the offer, then everything seems to fit well. If you are still suspicious, get a second or further offers, no one forces you to accept them. It's more about being able to sleep peacefully again.

It was about my effort, not that of the companies. I was concerned about the point of investing time when the possible savings in relation to the amount mentioned here do not justify it...

Now, if it happens that an offer is already 200€ cheaper, it is actually worth a lot to some people. It always depends on one's personal attitude towards money and free time. And some people feel like they think their whole life about whether they could have saved somewhere else. And if you can then get an overview of the market a bit because you have seen different offers, the mind can also assess that better and you worry less or not at all. For people for whom this is the case (I partly count myself among them), it is very well invested time.

That’s why I wrote earlier:

PS: A positive side effect of such an approach can be that you recognize whether an offer is particularly expensive (not necessarily the one discussed here specifically, but in general)
