Hello everyone,

Our house is now completed and we have also moved in. All floor coverings are in place except for the laundry room. I have now looked into and considered which options there would be for the laundry room.
1. Painting with concrete/cement
2. Sealing with 2K epoxy resin
3. Tiling.

Since the money is now pretty much used up and the laundry room only has a ceiling height of 218 cm, we thought about painting or sealing.

I asked the builder; he would want €600 for painting 30 sqm with cement paint. That seems a bit high to me, but we are not very familiar with this.
My question now is: is the price justified? Which option can you recommend?
Is it possible for a layperson to do this themselves? What would be reasonable prices for options 1 and 2?
We have cement screed with a vapor barrier in the basement.

Thank you very much.

I painted 60 sqm in just over an hour. It's very easy to do standing up with a large roller and an extension pole. I painted a total of four times to make it look good and even.

For 30 sqm, you will have about 70 euros in paint costs and maybe three hours of work.

I also thought about just painting the [Technik-Raum im Keller].

Did you sand the floor beforehand or paint directly onto the screed?
What paint did you use for that?

In 1st gear, apply a deep primer for the floor. Available at specialized retailers. Usually diluted 1 to 5. Everything is written on the canister. Then wilckens garage floor paint. For example.

I would ask the developer that question using the info from 77.willo’s post, like how much time he estimates and how he arrives at the price. Seems like someone is holding out their hand... Let’s say the paint costs 90€ (to make the calculation easier). (600€ - 90€) / 3h = 170€/h!!! Respect, proud hourly wage! If you’ve seen how quickly skilled painters can paint walls (with good quality), I would also assume they can manage it in under 3 hours. There probably isn’t much to tape off. Or is the room also a technical room where all sorts of installation technology is standing around that would have to be taped off? But even if that’s the case. Add another hour for taping. That’s still about 125€/h – I’d find that quite steep.
