Outdoor air-to-water heat pump on the house or on the ground

Hello everyone,

my installer asked me whether he should mount the outdoor unit of the air-water heat pump on the house (exterior wall) or if it should stand on a small concrete slab on the ground beside it.

Is there a recommended method? I couldn't find anything concrete via Google.

It doesn't matter how you do it.

Yes, it is completely the same. Take whatever is cheaper.

Know a house where the outdoor unit with console "hangs" on the house. A lot of water drips during operation.

Completely unqualified and we are not getting an air-water heat pump. Would not want that and would place the outdoor unit on concrete/slabs/pavers a bit beside the house. Gravel strip around the outside. Otherwise, I would worry that the facade will become unsightly sooner or later.

But as said, just personal observation and opinion.

Condensate drainage is of course included, otherwise it would not be executed professionally.

I didn’t want them on the house, I would have concerns about transmission of structure-borne sound.
