Hello everyone,

my boyfriend and I would also like to build...
We both work, he has a permanent contract, I work as an educator in a municipal daycare center for children full-time, but unfortunately still on a fixed-term contract (I have to add that my employer has given me a written statement that I am at the top of the list for a permanent contract and will have one within 2 years at the latest!!) Together we have about €2,500 per month available (although some of that goes to fuel for the car) and for living expenses and currently paying about €650 rent for our apartment
Until February we had saved a lot ourselves, but then we had a water damage in our apartment, which is still being disputed as to who will pay for it all, and we had to make an advance payment, so not much is left from that...

But I have now inherited €30,000, about €10,000 is still saved, so together €40,000
Yesterday we were in a new development area and reserved a plot, the real estate agent then gave us a quote (non-binding): house €144,000, plot €75,000, additional costs approx. €35,000 (without garden work, but including notary etc.) His house will be handed over turnkey, so painting and various floors we will do ourselves.
That means we would need a total of €255,000

Yesterday we asked an online bank to send us an offer and at the same time we have 2 appointments today and tomorrow at 2 different banks. On Thursday we also have an appointment with a person who built the house of my future parents-in-law and will get some more offers for the potential house.
We would like to build a bungalow house, without a basement, about 120-130 sqm. From what we have seen on the internet, €144,000 is quite high for that... So we want to get more offers!

It is possible that my father might also contribute something, but we don't want to plan on that for now...

What do you think, is it doable??

Since there are many here who have built or are building themselves, I wanted to hear your opinion...

Oh yes, children are planned at some point, but I also have to say that as a childcare worker I’m really lucky right now because so many are being sought after!! And we are 28 (he) and I will be 30

What? Where did you read that? I would say, no way in life. Just wait for the appointment with the other company. Hopefully, it will be more realistic.

On the internet, we found bungalow houses that were under 120000... Yes, that is exactly why we really want to have this appointment!!

Oh, I forgot something: we don’t need a new kitchen, just have to expand ours! (die ist neu!)

Let me guess? A shell house? Honestly, for that price, it won't work. Added to that are the material (and labor) costs for painting, garden, and access path/terrace! And lots of extras you want :)

mh I don't know right now... But let's just take the invoice from the real estate guy and say okay, then 144k€

the question still remains whether we can manage with 255k€, whether we even get that from the bank and so on and so forth
