We also spent pretty much exactly the 35-40 k mentioned here in the forum. For the surveying, we paid less, for the earthworks more. I had planned for €40,000 and we managed well with that.

So, unfortunately we did not get a plot of land in the new development area that suits us (orientation, possible construction, location within the building zone). Otherwise, in the possible towns of the region (rail connection to my workplace, kindergarten in town, school in town, secondary school accessible at least by public transport, shopping without a car, etc.) we also did not find a plot that fits us. The plots suitable for us are unfortunately located in towns that are not an option for us – because what we have listed as important parameters we have at our current place of residence (even the secondary schools are only a few hundred meters away). Therefore, we are refraining from building for now, but are keeping the location in mind somewhat. We don’t have to spend the money yet, so we continue to save our 20,000 euros per year and stay in our current house. Since the house is paid off, we have no time or financial pressure to move or build, although we would have liked to have more space. Well, what isn’t now might still be, otherwise we manage just fine as it is If we can build in 5 years, we will have enough equity to cover half to three-quarters of the project ourselves, which isn’t bad either.

But of course, thanks anyway for your responses – I don’t want to leave completely without a "take care" Good luck with your building projects, etc.!

Hello Skaddler,
then I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you soon find a suitable plot of land.
We also searched for almost three years and experienced one disappointment after another, until a nice opportunity arose within the family.
Good luck with the further search!
Regards,
Dirk

when I look at the expense list like this, I wonder if we are the only ones who have a Berufsunfähigkeitsversicherung / private Altersvorsorge... It's completely missing here

My husband has the BU, I have the private retirement provision
My husband is currently the sole earner if you disregard my 450€ job. I have the private retirement provision because of the allowances for the children.
Otherwise, our retirement provision is first the house, then saving privately again. That is our personal view.
I also believe there are many people who forgo both.

No, it is not missing. It would be missing if I were to miss it. We consider disability insurance unnecessary since our financial situation is completely independent of salary (the mentioned equity is, as stated, higher, and in addition, a much larger amount is also available, which, however, may only be accessed in a few years). Furthermore, each of us has a retirement provision on top of the salary, so that would not belong in the list.
