We also sent the original to our [GU] and received it back immediately for hanging at the construction site. The original must be visible there as well. Are you sure that your [GU] will keep the original?

You are an accountant, that says it all (sorry!!) I am one myself and know this species.
Preferably want to recalculate the last cents and check everything.
Just let it run on the construction site, you won’t be able to align anything with a ruler there.

Everything was also stated like this in the [GU Vertrag] which we did not sign, but for other reasons because we decided on individual awarding. Sounds like common practice to me. The [GU] wants to protect itself with the house rules so that you don't cause a fuss if you don't like the craftsman's attitude. It has to do this, otherwise the house might never be finished if you keep chasing tradespeople off the site continuously.

Zaba, that's nonsense. If a main contractor demands something like that, he doesn't want to be controlled. But that doesn't work. Whoever is the client owns the whole thing. I wouldn't let myself be driven off my land. I am generally surprised by what kind of clauses main contractors/subcontractors get away with. These, for example. Or assignments of payments. Also impossible when proof is required that I can afford the house. Yes, bank guarantees are demanded. All of this spoils trust, opposes a business relationship at eye level, and would not be signed by me. I've never signed anything like that either. Neither privately nor professionally.

Hi,

One would have to read the passage in the original, as it is just guesswork. If the GC wants to deny the owner access there: No-go – completely unacceptable! If the GC just wants to make sure that the owner doesn't start interfering with his subs and kicking craftsmen off the site while at the same time complaining about delays: I consider that sensible and also necessary.

Best regards,
Andreas

I'm not saying that I like such a formulation. I'm just repeating the GC's reasoning because I found this wording strange. But it didn't sound like access to the construction site is generally denied.

Either you can live with it or not! If you can't live with it and the GC doesn't relent, then you have to look for another GC. Quite simple!
