Why did you choose the plastic version? Because it is a bit cheaper? I read that with clay soil and a high groundwater level, a concrete cistern would be better, so we would tend towards this.

The ground does not matter with the appropriate substructure. Concrete was not an option in terms of size and shape.

correct. A high groundwater level can cause the plastic cistern to float in unfavorable cases. That is no longer fun and becomes really expensive to fix. At a neighbor a few houses down, this happened with the sunken (electrically liftable) trash bin box. Since then the bins stand outside the door ;-) because no one has dared to reinstall them yet. They probably require something like ground anchors? Water from concrete cisterns has a better pH value and the cistern is less sensitive (to damage) in heavy soils. Plastic is cheaper, especially in larger sizes. You could also bury it yourself after delivery since the weight is manageable (if it doesn't become a submarine ;-). That isn't possible with concrete. As says, better to go one size larger. Otherwise, it will be empty in long summers anyway. However, I know comparisons from people with similar garden sizes. For some, the 2500 L cistern is always empty quickly, for others, there's always some water left. It depends on planting and watering behavior, etc.

Hello

I have a 10m² cistern. I am very satisfied with it. Rainwater flows in through a filter. Always clean, always cool.
With a mini excavator and a 10m² container, the hole is no problem (the topsoil goes into the garden).
A layer of sand for smoothing and the truck lifted the part in. No magic. I think the travel distance should be as short as possible. Since that is a cost factor.

We have the small and shallow sibling: Platin 7,500 - by the way groundwater-stable up to the height of the tank back.

Concrete cistern is always preferable. If it gets a leak, it can be easily sealed, but plastic cisterns usually become completely unusable. Instead of looking online, I would rather inquire with local civil engineering companies. For reference: Our 7000L concrete cistern including delivery, excavator, and installation costs 2800€. Additionally, filter 450€ and Rainmaster rainwater utilization system for toilet, washing machine, and garden including installation 2200€.
