1/3 is wrong. Laugh, that causes quite a few problems when trying to distribute window areas in the attic. People talk about 1/10 or 1/8. Even in living areas that is enough, but the trend is definitely towards larger window areas. However, the energy consumption of the house is calculated in relation to the windows - at least that's what I just read.

25cm parapet is pretty nice, especially with narrow windows. We had that in the old house. You have a windowsill and the needed light. Maybe I'll find a photo this afternoon...

Thank you, ypg - that's how I know it too. Especially since the building regulations vary from state to state.

A picture would be great - we just can't imagine it at the moment.

Construction expert may be right, but I can imagine that the building authority has other concerns than making a fuss about a 20-30 cm changed parapet height. There are much more serious violations of the building regulations that trouble the authority. And besides, the building authority has to find out about it first. Hardly anyone will come to the finished house and measure with a tape measure. And the surveyor only does the surveying after completion, possibly checking the number of floors (the latter is not done here in Berlin, for example).

Hello,

I am thinking less about the building authority and its "precious" time here, and more about protecting the architect who gave the stamp and signature to certify that the construction complies not only with the development plan but also with the final result

Even in the simplified approval procedure, the building authority initiates spot checks. Motto: Trust is good, control is better

Rhenish regards

Our architect asked us exactly what was asked above - this is not something we came up with.

Since our architect worked at the local building authority before his current position, I just assume that he knows what he is doing

Above all, there are not even parapet heights or exact roof overhangs in the application. The roof is also no longer detailed as in the elevation drawing...

If this is true, I am no longer really surprised by the increasingly restrictive behavior of some clerks in the various building authorities, and in the future I will cuddle them even more

I can only respond from my professional experience and therefore know very well that not one of our architects would overly play this "game." In this respect, I hope for you that your architect knows what he is doing or at least still has good contacts in the building authority

Rhenish regards
