Not necessarily. In summer, the sun is high in the south, in winter it is lower. In summer, we hardly had anything from our west window (light yes, but no nice sunlight), but since September it has been our main light source in the living area. In the kitchen, the window is also completely covered... I would run through this because of the bay window/walls/protrusions/roofing (if you haven't done so already) and possibly move the garage forward to at least create a band of light in the living area there. East sun is also a bit lacking...
