The salary increase through the experience levels is a joke, you certainly can't pay off a house with that (the family allowance becomes more interesting then). Are you regularly promoted or are you already in your pay grade? That also makes a big difference.

Hello,

if possible, I would buy the plot of land and then wait and save for the time being. You want to have children at some point, and by then at the latest, your salary will decrease by an unforeseeable amount. The 250,000 euros for the house also seem to me to be underestimated. Usually, there are additional costs (cistern, outdoor facilities, earthworks, colored windows, fireplace, sampling costs, possibly garage, etc.) and it becomes more expensive.

Best regards
Sabine

And the salary increase is offset again by children. Quickly there are 500€ in daycare costs per month + various other expenses. Civil servants are made things a bit easier with children, but additional costs still arise in large amounts, + loss of salary due to part-time work

Do you have to put up with such a huge life burden with a massive financing at 23 already?

I don’t see a carefree life between security and settling down there ;)

I think it’s slowly becoming clear that we will first buy the property and fully utilize the building obligation (which is still unknown to me).

I don’t want to speak of a regular promotion because I have no influence on that, but our total of 3700 EUR consists of the sum of the starting salaries.

The mentioned 250,000 EUR for the house is not for a special house with 180m2 of living space or something like that – a relaxed 140m2, gable roof, no chimney, steel carport – only “luxury” = possibly a brine-water heat pump (depending on what the soil survey tells us about the subsoil or what the energy consultant says). With a calculated price per square meter of just under 1800 EUR, I think the 250,000 EUR should be roughly in that range and not deviate significantly.

I also sometimes find it strange to have such thoughts at 23. However, I already had these thoughts at 17 – and they haven’t really subsided.. rather the opposite..
“have to put up with it” – that sounds as if moving into a house is no pleasure and signing a pact with the devil :-D – of course, it is probably the biggest financial burden in life.. But in return you do get something for it, right?

Still many, many thanks for your opinions

Regards
