A western highway can be heard more than an eastern one, do I read that correctly? Why? Well - it's clear that I drive past - but I can save myself that if it would be clear for some reason that it smells there or there are other disadvantages because of the oil area...

Thanks anyway to everyone.

without knowing exactly and being able to prove it: I think westerly wind is more frequent here than easterly wind. The wind carries the sounds.

Usually the wind comes from the west ->Wetterseite

We have an AB in the east, which is 95% not audible. In the rare cases of east wind, however, it can be heard.
I did not necessarily want it the other way around.

Northeast of us, 2.5 km as the crow flies, runs a rarely used autobahn.

In the evening/night you can even hear it very quietly rustling with southwest wind. With north/east wind you can hear it very clearly.
How much the development swallows from it in your case, I cannot judge.

The refinery and the power plant very likely have no direct impact on the property; in terms of contamination or similar. They are too far away for that. One should not forget that more or less the entire Ruhr area can be problematic; heavy metals and the like are more common there, we do not know the history of the mentioned location (regardless of power plant/refinery).

You will probably see the columns and towers, to what extent that bothers you, you have to decide. And whether there is a realistic option without a view of industry, only you can know (not everyone can build by the coast or at Lake Tegernsee).

And because of that, the nicer quarters were originally established west of the industrial areas. Now the air today is much cleaner than in the 1980s (or 1960 or even 1890), only in the event of an accident could (!) it go badly. Realistically, I would worry less here in Central Europe. The safety level in such facilities is already high. But who knows what the next decades will bring?

Now all that remains is the on-site visit! Take your time, walk there, on different weekdays and at different times, in different weather conditions.

Henrik had posted a map section from Google. This was deleted by Yvonne due to the rights Google holds on the map material. To keep the thread from dying, I at least passed on the information from it so that everyone can form their own impression. Unfortunately, a new map section from freely usable map material was not posted.
