Oil and power plant nearby

Hello,

we have found a basically very interesting property - however, I see on Maps an oil plant or something and a power plant "nearby". There is still forest and a highway in between but can that somehow have a negative impact in terms of smell, health, potential accidents or something like that?

What do you think? Concerns?

To give some meaning The property is located northeast of the Gelsenkirchen-Scholven exit. from Openstreetmaps you can provide maps.

So, 200-300m. There is a chemical park about 4km from us (also with oil processing). Occasionally, 1-2 times a year, there is a bit of a smell. What bothers more is when gases are flared. That happens much more often. You can see it clearly from our place. Sometimes for days. (you need less lighting in the garden :D)

And every now and then, such rupture discs also burst. Google "Kölner Norden: Knall bei Ineos - Berstscheibe in Polyethylenanlage ausgelöst"

Where there is work, there are also chips. Personally, that would be too close for me. :rolleyes:

But my relatives who live very close to Bayer Leverkusen (and have partly worked there for decades) enjoy excellent health :)

You mean the Ruhr oil refinery? The power plant is probably the Scholven power plant (according to Wikipedia, hard coal and oil).

Then the property is located east of the A52 (refinery and power plant are west)?

The highway might bother me more, possibly. How far away are you really?
