For my office, I need a special combination of cabinets and drawers. In particular, I need many drawers that are as shallow as possible but fully integrated into the cabinet wall (so no separate card cabinet, which individually are ugly and/or way too expensive).
Now I had the idea to realize the whole thing with Metod cabinets:
- That is much cheaper than if I buy from a proper office furniture manufacturer.
- So far, I have hardly found any office furniture systems where you can order fully integrated and such large and at the same time shallow drawers. And if yes, then it is unaffordable.
- The whole thing has to match the rest of the furnishing in color, which is possible with Ikea.
My problem now is that there is no tall cabinet with a width of 80 and a depth of 60. So I think: I simply stack two 80-high base cabinets as well as a 60-high base cabinet on top of each other (of course properly screwed together so they don’t slip or fall forward). At the bottom, Maximera drawers, on top shelves with flaps in front.
Since I have 2.60 m available, the cabinet wall could then look like this:
Cabinet 1: Tall cabinet 60x60x220
Cabinet 2: Base cabinet 80x60x80 Base cabinet 80x60x80 Base cabinet 80x60x60
Cabinet 3: Base cabinet 80x60x80 Base cabinet 80x60x80 Base cabinet 80x60x60
Cabinet 4: Tall cabinet 40x60x220
Then a matching panel would be placed on top so that all cabinets are closed at the top.
1st question:
What do you think of the idea in principle?
2nd question for the experts:
If I set up a Metod tall cabinet with a height of 2.20 m and next to it a 60-high base cabinet on top of an 80-high base cabinet on top of an 80-high base cabinet (none of the cabinets should have a plinth; everything should stand directly on 1 cm high feet on the floor), are the cabinets 220 and 80 80 60 then exactly the same height? Or do I then have a 0.5 cm or 1 cm or 2 cm etc. height difference because the measurements given by Ikea are not 1000% accurate?
Many greetings,
Matthias
