Hello,

Last December, I requested a quote from a company for interior doors.
Only in April was plastering done at our place, and afterwards the clerk came by and took the measurements for the room doors.
Now in December, I received the invoice, which is 24% higher than the offer from November last year.
(Angebotsgültigkeit von 4 Wochen)
The company says this is due to price increases from their suppliers.
According to a written statement from the clerk, the price increases occurred on 4.5.22, but we had ordered the doors verbally on 24.4.22.

In the meantime, I never received a new offer with adjusted prices.

Do I have to accept the 24% price increase without prior knowledge of it?
Does anyone know what the legal situation is here or what I can refer to?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards

Did you record all of that only verbally? Acceptance of the offer in writing would be preferable, as it will be difficult to prove what happened when otherwise. Normally, offers must be honored within the offer period. Legally, however, this becomes difficult if you have not accepted the offer somewhere with a date and signature.

Hello, thanks already for your reply. Yes, unfortunately I don't have everything in writing, but trusted the man and now I can be annoyed about any price increases and prices for "special sizes" and similar. But even if I had accepted the offer in writing, the validity was only 4 weeks. That wouldn't have changed anything either, right? Best regards

Strictly speaking, a new offer should have been obtained first. However, I find it remarkable that the company specified a concrete date for the price increase.

Yes, I wish I had made the new offer on which everything is listed exactly. But shouldn't the clerk also have informed me exactly about the prices valid at the time of the order?

Best regards

Um. You received an offer with a commitment of 4 weeks and then ordered and had the doors installed 5 months later. You could have definitely asked what the new price would be...

I know, people don't like to ask that and secretly hope that the craftsman doesn't take his own offers seriously and will give you the old price anyway. But that's not true...

PS: Why does he have to inform you about the prices? You knew that the old prices no longer apply?
