Offer double garage 6x9 m / foundation + floor slab

We requested two quotes from our construction company:
1. Construction of a solid brick double garage 6x9m as part of the erection of our single-family house
2. Construction of a reinforced concrete garage slab 6x9 m (preparation for double garage) as part of the erection of our single-family house

Do I understand correctly: you had the naive thought that a general contractor building your house could also quickly build the double garage while excavating the storage cellar and are now surprised that he doesn’t do it for a symbolic fee; and now you remain open to other general contractors to see if they offer you a more attractive bundled deal?
There is no house with a garage like rubber mats included with a new car. Get used to the fact that garage construction is not “customer service” but a business with profit expectations. And draw the consequence to tender the two package deals separately.

as if you were already considerably further along in the implementation of the construction project (?)

That the 13k was a bargain price for more or less just a base slab, I already said. But a "fair for both sides" price does not exist for a double garage: either the necessary operating profit is no worse than if you assign your people to build living spaces, or the client finds the price for a small hall overpriced. The principle is almost identical to the basement without performance. On the other hand, a garage is also best suited for own work – if you are willing to make small compromises (such as individual doors instead of a wide single door).

We have now inquired with two local "smaller" construction companies.

The first provider estimates the construction costs at about €10,000 o_O

The second provider estimates the construction costs at about €20,000 :rolleyes:

The work to be carried out has been discussed with both.

However, we will first have the execution plans and static calculations made and then request the whole thing again concretely, in the form of an offer.
