Hello everyone I had my facade painted by a professional company. According to the offer with silicone resin paint. Now, after the first painting, I noticed many cracks in the paint, it was painted two more times, but without success. Before, the facade was without cracks. The facade has many indentations due to the plaster. The paint was applied with a roller. Now the company says these are just air bubbles, and that has no impact on the quality. I don't believe that. What do you think??? Regards Ulfi I have attached a picture!!

These small cracks on the surface of the silicone resin facade coating are unavoidable and normal in the depressions, and also do not constitute a defect. Due to the fact that the often multiple amount of material inevitably accumulates in the plaster depths compared to the plaster heights, these film losses on the coating surface result from the drying and film formation process from the outside to the inside. What your painter told you here about air bubbles you can file away with the Brothers Grimm. The fine pores are explained by the diffusion of water in the coating and are also harmless.

Hello, I don’t quite see the situation the same way as Schwarzmeier. Where the paint has cracked, it was definitely applied too thickly. Since painters always prefer to do everything "ONCE NICE," meaning applying a thick coat once and getting paid twice so that it covers well, things like this sometimes happen. I don’t want to exclude myself from that. But as you can see in the pictures, the cracks only appear in the indentations. That is also a sign that the paint was not distributed properly (smearing paint on, rolling the roller once up and down is just not enough). Every painter learns in their training to APPLY, DISTRIBUTE, and SMOOTH paint. Whether it is qualitatively okay, I don’t want to judge; in any case, I would not accept the facade like that nor pay for it. The facade paint is not only there to make the house look pretty but also to protect the building from moisture and dampness. In other words, rainwater should run off. What happens, for example, in winter: it rains during the day, the water remains trapped in the pores, at night it freezes, the water expands, and the paint can chip off. Since the painting company of course will not admit having any fault, I would first contact the paint company. They have field staff who look at such things and can make a statement as to whether it is the paint’s fault, which I don’t believe it is. I hope I have helped you for now. I would be glad if you keep us updated.

Best regards, Thommi

Hi everyone First of all, thanks for your help. So the facade was supposed to be painted twice according to the offer. Meanwhile, we are at 3 times within 1 week. However, the cracks keep reappearing. The company says this is due to the strong texture of the plaster and that it could happen with any paint. Is this really a defect?? Is it worth getting an expert involved??? Regards Ulfi

Hello, I tell you with 90 percent certainty that the paint was applied too thickly on the cracked spots. If the facade had been properly painted twice with facade paint of the right viscosity, you wouldn't have any cracks. My master teacher always said, "There is no bad material, only bad craftsmen." An expert will cause costs again that you have to pay. Try it first with the paint manufacturer. He will fight with all his might against the idea that it is the paint's fault and that his company is being dragged through the mud. And it probably has the least to do with the structure of the plaster. You can still get an expert later.
Regards, Thommi

Hello
So on Tuesday a representative of the paint manufacturer and the master painter will come for an inspection.
But I can already imagine what will come of it.
The master painter will keep persuading the representative until everything is okay.
Well, we will not give up hope, I will get in touch when the representative has been here.

Until then

Regards
Ulfi
