That is also a good point. The best burglary protection on the ground floor is useless if there is an easily accessible ladder nearby and the window on the upper floor is tilted open. Nearby, garden sheds as well as the neighbor's properties are explicitly included here.

Front door, or everything that is publicly visible, I would do completely normally. Behind the house and areas not visible, then one level better. That is enough.

How loud is it actually when you try to break a normal triple-glazed window? Whether the neighbors even react at all??

I guess it depends on the neighborhood. In my case, it would probably be noticed and someone would come to take a look.

That is very loud and not so easy with 3 windows. The usual burglar will probably be too lazy for that and will go to another door or, even better, another house..... o_O

Fifteen years ago, after an inspection by a police consultant, we had rod locks with lockable handles installed on all ground floor windows. A year later, a break-in occurred by smashing a window – which the police had previously considered very unlikely ... you’re never in that situation. For our security needs, option 1 would certainly not be sufficient.

Neither. They know there's nothing left to get from the builders. (That's what the gentleman told me back then when we bought the garage door and gate from him…):D
