Hi, I have now installed both the Gira Tectiv 220 and the Busch Jäger 220 Masterline. With both motion detectors, I cannot achieve a detection range of 3m in front and 5m to the side. The light always switches on when people walk past the house. The tilt was set completely downward and the upper area was taped off, yet the range is still too large. The mounting height is 2.5m. Is there no suitable motion detector for my application above the front door and 3m to the street?

I have the Gira automatic switch Komfort 2 for garage & front door. The front door is not installed yet, but the garage works perfectly with the detection range you mentioned.

I previously had a normal automatic switch from Gira, which was triggered by every pedestrian and every car...

I deliberately did not choose the Tectiv because I found it visually unattractive and the automatic switch offers more functions (including with the dimmer insert).

That is a mystery to me. My house wall is exactly 3.01 m from the street. Thus, the Gira is about 2.5 m from the street. The detection range can be adjusted perfectly for me. Even inward (the light only turns on when you stand further inside the entrance) would have been possible. I have set the street boundary. For your purpose, the Tectiv must work. My advice would be to contact Gira again.

Best regards
Thorsten

The Tectiv cannot be tilted enough. Did you perhaps install it at an angle? I do not want an in-wall version....

Hi,

Regarding the inclination. This part was actually only implicitly mentioned in my posts about it. I'm sorry, you learn over time, I should have made it more obvious.

The roof has an inclination of 38 degrees, as does the roof overhang, which is merely a partial extension of the roof.

Therefore, the Tectiv is inclined 38 degrees inward towards the front door.

The installation was in September 2014, I can’t remember every detail. However, I think there were one or two additional bases included in the box for mounting with an angle bracket or (partial) compensation of such. But maybe this is no longer included today (or Gira sells such as a replacement/accessory part).

Kind regards
Thorsten

Hello, with us the roof overhang is at a right angle to the wall (Gesimskasten). The problem with the motion detectors in my case is always the too high frontal range. Without adjusting the tilt or masking measurement fields, it will be difficult to stay under 3m frontally. That is why I have great hope in the Steinel SensIQS, which can mechanically tilt the sensors internally.
