Hello everyone,

we are currently building our single-family house and so far everything has gone well.

Now, after the installation of the floor-to-ceiling windows on the ground floor, we noticed that moisture is "drawing" through the masonry barrier into the interior of the house through all 3 windows. The windows on the ground floor were mounted on the masonry barrier, this is not the case on the upper floor. Here, the windows are mounted on the floor slab.

On the ground floor, the floor-to-ceiling windows were sealed on the inside with a sealing tape. On the outside, no sealing tape has been applied yet. (But it has been applied on all other "normal" windows).

The window installer will come back to the construction site soon and I will bring up the issue again then. However, I wanted to get a few opinions beforehand so that I might have some arguments...

Thank you very much!

Is there standing water at that spot or what is it like when it rains heavily?

The scaffolding is in the way there, but I would remove the soil so that water cannot accumulate at that spot in the first place. We also moved into our new build a few months ago, the floor-to-ceiling windows are still sealed, only the waterproof membrane, but that is not enough. However, at least no water can collect at those spots for me, because there is no soil there.

Hi, no water actually collected at that spot. We also didn’t have very heavy rain; I think it was more the snow that melted... it really just seems like the masonry barrier absorbs moisture on the outside and then transports it inward.

Are those bricks in front of the window?

Hello, what exactly do you mean? The house is built with 36 cm Poroton bricks. The window in the picture (ground floor) is on a concrete floor slab, which in turn rests on our shuttered concrete basement. Regards Dominik

Is that the concrete slab in front of the window? It looks red, doesn't it?
