You can be happy anywhere with your family, square meters don't really matter. Much more often, you should put the phone away and actively spend time with the children or also friends. Whether you inform yourself about house building down to the smallest detail is something everyone has to decide for themselves. In my opinion, you don't have to think everything through in detail. Phones don't really matter to me.

Phew, I buy the damn phone because I use it every single day and I'm just too lazy to switch everything to Android... all apps new, no desire. But the old one can usually be sold for 200 bucks after 2 years, so far I've been better off than my friend with his Chinese things that are worth nothing after 2 years. But as I said, I have no desire for a change, so I'd rather do other things in my life. That's why I wanted to build with GU. But contrary to another current thread here regarding self-contracting, that would have been 60k more. So I decided to sit down after all, at least with a site manager. I'm also rid of him now and have grown into the point where I read everything myself and inform myself. But honestly, it brings me to the edge of what is psychologically bearable. Yeah, 1000 euros hurt in normal life. Building a house means 500 decisions within 9 months, I just can't anymore, then I didn't compare so well and pay more... personally, I just can't afford it any other way. 40-hour week and construction site 20 km away, I'm just done.

Bricklayer, carpenter, roofer, painter and plasterer, plumbing, electronics, tiler, tinsmith

All professions with about 3.5 years of apprenticeship + further training + experience and clients are supposed to be able to watch all trades closely, take part in discussions, and understand everything in maybe 12 months.
This requires quick comprehension, fast logical thinking, focused acquisition and application of knowledge, grasping and recognizing connections, assertiveness, and self-confidence
Who can do that?
especially part-time

So architect, general contractor, and expert and a lot of luck on top

Exactly. That's what I meant: A special kind of resilience, thinking ability, and frustration tolerance is required to accomplish this. Simply put, it is not comparable to phone comparisons.

The mistake lies in the fact that people seem to think that if their job qualifies them for salaries in the construction-friendly range, they could also handle the house-building project.

But the requirements here are not comparable to job demands at all. Rather, what is needed is what is generally referred to as life competence. And endurance for that.

Me ;)
Sounds a lot like my computer science studies and the jobs I've been doing since,

That's the point, I work 50-60 hours a week plus commuting, that hasn't worked for years with the renovation and we live on the construction site. That's why I give up on building.
