The frame was wiped down both inside and outside. However, the frame is probably cleaned more thoroughly when doing it yourself. But you can't match the quality of the window cleaner when it comes to the glass. They must have some kind of products that dissolve the dirt in no time and also leave no streaks.

In the future, we will do some combination of both. Once a year, properly clean the frame before the window cleaner comes, and otherwise just let the window cleaner quickly do the job. And since the window cleaner services several houses here in the neighborhood at once, they only have one trip and offer the whole thing at a bargain price.

Yes, those were many small little windows, and the worst part was that when wiping the muntins, the dust/pollen mixed really nicely with the top layers of the silicone and smeared as little crumbs across the panes. No matter what you did, you just couldn’t get the panes streak-free. Presumably, the silicone was too old and simply should have been replaced. But who does that in a house with an estimated 50 windows and thus 600 little panes inside and out.

We also partly have two-leaf floor-to-ceiling windows about 1.20 m wide. We use them in some places to go to the terrace and balcony. With the breakfast tray held crosswise in my hands, I can’t get through an open leaf. Turning it lengthwise works though. For a loaded laundry rack, I just open the second leaf. In everyday use, this isn’t a problem. But we both aren’t built very wide. Regards Michael

Ah... now it's getting interesting..

Hello Michael, can you post a photo with an open wing?
How do you open the 2nd wing? Complicated with a bolt in the lower window frame or simply with a handle?

Best regards, Steffi

I have to take the photo at home first. I will also measure the exact widths again. We have two different ones...

You open the second sash via a lever in the frame, which is usually covered by the first sash. However, I don't find that complicated. I can also find the lever easily by feel in the dark. Whether I would have built it that way myself or preferred alternatives, I don't know. It was installed that way in the house as purchased. In any case, it is not bothersome.

I definitely would not want single-sash opening doors there. Open, they would stick too far into the room.

Regards
Michael

So, now I was finally able to quickly take a photo. The open area is about 50cm wide.
