It is, right... I didn’t do the nonsense with studying after finishing high school either.

So I am not an academic, I just completed a "simple" training and am "only" a team leader. I earn about 75k€ gross per year. All my employees (some still under 30) and not all academics either, earn at least 50k€ per year. Therefore, I cannot understand how someone can claim that no one earns this much. Even my friends in Lower Saxony in rural areas earn this amount in these regions working for medium-sized companies. It is clear that a hairdresser cannot reach that, but they are not involved in the construction of a 400k€ project either.

On the other hand, you shouldn't study something that doesn't suit you professionally at all. And that can't be the whole explanation for why, after 600 applications for various jobs, including unskilled labor positions, you don't get a single interview. Not even temporary employment agencies responded, and they usually take just about anyone.

The company I work for pays around 60k for computer scientists fresh from university. With further specialization, you can easily reach 70k after a few years. After that, it gets thin and you need leadership tasks. If you want significantly over 100k, you have to move into management.

Or don’t slave away for a company.. especially the IT industry is pretty "f***ed up" there. If it weren’t for so many idealists, the industry in Germany would be doing significantly worse than it already is. Why? Everyone who is skilled and primarily works for the money starts their own business or at least many do. Then you can earn 200k..300k..or even more per year. I know a consultant who had a 4 in front last year. I take my hat off to him!
