Marking furniture for the move - How did you do it?

Label the rooms with masking tape on the door frames and simply tell people at the entrance which room to go into. You don’t have to be upstairs and downstairs at the same time, just at the entrance. Then the people can put the labeled boxes directly into the correct room. After a few trips, everyone knows which room is which anyway.....

Moving is really not a big deal. I’ve done 7 moves in my life. All without a moving company, just with help from friends. It has always worked out so far

Your husband certainly knows where the dining table, sofa, and TV go. He can still remember the bed too...

As already mentioned several times here, use masking tape instead of PostIt!
It holds securely and can be removed without residue, provided it is good quality and removed promptly.

Regarding the boxes, I recommend not only labeling them but also taking photos of the contents (box open)! From several sides, write the box number on it.

Simply create a folder (moving boxes) in the smartphone’s note-taking app and create a separate note for each box:
1. e.g. Decor .... Photos 1,2,3
2. XYZ ... Photos 1,2,3

At least for us, this went very quickly and proved useful after the move.
When numerous boxes are stacked on top of each other and you’re looking for something specific, you quickly and quite accurately know that the item you’re looking for is in box no. 7...

Sounds complicated, but it isn’t.

Small tip:
My wife even took photos of the cabinets, which were supposed to be re-arranged with the exact same contents, and pasted the printed picture inside the cabinet. This way, private moving helpers could also quickly fill a few compartments. Of course, this only works if you take many pieces of furniture and want to arrange them identically.
That was the case for us, and my wife prepared it so well that by 7 p.m. on moving day, all the boxes to be unpacked were really empty again and the contents were neatly stored.

That’s a great idea, I’ve done it that way too, but so far in Excel. I’ll steal copying that to the smartphone from you. Each box gets a number, ground floor/upper floor marked, roughly the contents, and of course which room it belongs in.

I’ll look into the masking tape. Maybe on an inconspicuous spot after all (I still don’t trust Ikea particle board after all these years)

Maybe you can believe me, it is still a thousand times better than if he makes decisions himself or makes assumptions ... I know what I'm talking about.
