You could at most stick colored sheets to the wrapped furniture and assign a different color to each room. But I can't say whether that would work practically.
We have stored our furniture and most of the household inventory. No plastic was wasted. When the movers arrived at the new house, one of us stayed downstairs, the other upstairs, and directed. Most of it we of course changed later. It’s about the rough idea, whether upstairs or downstairs.
As ypg describes it. Usually, the boxes (which you can and should label very well since you can't see the contents) and the furniture pieces are not brought into the house simultaneously. And while moving the furniture pieces, you just stand in the entrance area and say where each piece should go. That is normally done in one to a maximum of two hours.
Okay, then I won't drive myself crazy any further and will just talk to the people. I just can't be upstairs and downstairs at the same time, and I can send my husband up, but he'll probably point his finger at me if he doesn't know where things belong.
