Yes, well, as I said, without at least seeing pictures you can’t say anything... but the basement doesn’t sound bad at all... the rest will most likely have to go...
Regarding bus systems, I always preach that you should first inform yourself and then make a decision... and not, as unfortunately often happens, let some system be pushed on you by a friendly electrician because he thinks it’s “great”... most of the “great” things end up being very limited...
But if you already mention KNX and are willing to go down this path, then I wouldn’t advise you to choose anything else... It’s simply the system that is mature and now, after almost 30 years since its inception, still unrivaled and up-to-date... The devices from back then work just as well today as the current ones... and it is foreseeable that this will continue for decades... unlike many others with their glossy brochures that have meanwhile vanished and will continue to do so.
Ok, enough advertising :)
So as already said, a “basic setup” is not really possible... you have to be clear beforehand where you want to install which switches/sensors/detectors etc. At all those points the bus cable must be laid and possibly plastered in behind a cover “for later” no special boxes are necessary, conventional flush-mounted boxes are sufficient, but I would always install the deeper ones, so you always have more space later for whatever...
Anywhere where something should be switched then, lamps/sockets/shutters etc., a power cable must go directly from the distribution board without detours and distribution boxes.
You see, the structure is completely different from conventional electrical work.
Whether you install all switches/sensors etc. at the beginning or retrofit them later is up to you. However, retrofitting later requires knowledge of the system and also the possibility to change the original programming a bit... or you have the money and call an electrician every time... but then you might as well have everything done at the beginning.
Where can I click “Thank you” here :-)
I understood everything so far and it matches very well with my “ideas”.
It will definitely be the case that I’ll be asking you a few questions in the critical phase :-)
We plan to start the actual construction by early 2017 at the latest to essentially complete it during the year so that we can move in that same year.
Planning and preparatory measures are of course already underway, although it has to be said clearly that we are just at the beginning.
The goal is to develop an uncompromising design by the end of this year to then be able to create a reliable cost estimate.
Once that is done, it goes into the financing phase. Then it will become clear whether the uncompromising design can be maintained or if the wishes exceed the budget.
If it’s the latter, there will initially be various options that could be omitted in a first phase of expansion. (high-quality kitchen, full expansion, fully developed bus system, swimming pool, etc.)
Our idea is that we do not want to make compromises either in the floor plan or in details that are only extremely costly to change afterwards, such as flooring or cable routing.
