Make the lawn autumn/winter-proof

Our landscaping gardener also sowed at the beginning of October back then, and I even had to buy a lawn mower that year.

We will still sow now (so during October). The prospect of usable lawn from next spring is worth the (small) risk. (Small, because it only costs 1 euro/m²...).

We have 500 sqm of lawn that needs to be worked on. So you do wonder whether to overseed or not.

It also always depends on the weather. I even had to mow in December here because it was 15 degrees Celsius during the day and the lawn was growing. This year it is relatively cold; you just don’t know what the weather will be like in the coming weeks. It’s a pity when you make the effort and spend a lot of money, and then maybe nothing comes of it.

That's clear. I just looked at our 16-day forecast. It doesn't seem like there will be frost, but it won't get particularly warm anymore. Last year, we and our two neighbors mowed again in early December. Since it then stayed quite warm, we joked about whether everyone would take the mower out a second time in December by Christmas Eve.

For us, it's just 500 sqm of lawn that need to be worked on. You really have to think about whether to reseed or not.

Exactly like here :-) (I think we are currently planning 490 m², but it's not quite final yet). From experience over the past few years, I personally don't believe it will get significantly cold for an extended period before Christmas.

If you don’t do it, but it doesn’t get too cold, otherwise everything quickly gets overgrown with weeds

from the road
