Fertilizing for sure. The last dry summer weeks have at least quite worried my lawn. I fertilized last Friday. Scarifying will only take place in spring.

It doesn't have to be a cheap lawn turbo boost fertilizer. In autumn rather with little nitrogen and a lot of potassium.

I would not scarify my lawn at all, it only weakens it. Our lawn is never scarified and looks very nice (without moss and weeds). If you fertilize, water, and mow it regularly, you get a very nice, dense, weed-free lawn.

Best regards Sabine

And why do the professionals then recommend aerating and scarifying? Our lawn is also very dense, watered, and fertilized. Still, dead material accumulates between the grass blades. You can especially see these spots when I mow very short. Then, besides the green, the gray-yellow of the dead grass blades still shines through. And that has to be removed; otherwise, the lawn will eventually turn into a meadow.

Google "vertikutier Mythos". Our lawn has been with us for 16 years and it is dark green, dense, and definitely not a meadow, all without scarifying. The most important things are fertilizing, mowing, and watering! Best regards Sabine

But there are also professionals who advise against scarifying

I'll join in with my lawn problem. Our lawn has now become a meadow. Or rather, it was already like that when we bought the house. How do I get it back in shape? My plan was: mow now, scarify, and fertilize 2-3 days later.
