What you can imagine or not, you don’t need to presume to know!
A simple cable installation is presented as an insurmountable obstacle. The fact is, it simply does not pose any problems.
Especially not if you want to prove how flexible KNX is by describing that you actually plan everything at the beginning and also renovate from time to time. I call that inflexible, you apparently flexible. Quite a curious argument.
I don’t have to prove anything. I’m just informing. Because apparently there are serious deficits here. That’s exactly how it goes: you plan 99% in advance in KNX (this is also a large part of the final price) and that is usually sufficient. Because for most people, the system works immediately as desired after commissioning and only minimal corrections in parameterization are necessary during the initial period. If you don’t plan adequately and/or at all (as is often the case with many others) and tinker away happily, then you rely on everything being radio-based and not fixed anywhere. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to sell the devices. And in the end you often spend even more and it only works “somehow.” Why not just rely on something that is mature?
But always preaching KNX is the only true thing and everything else is just toys is unfortunately completely wrong.
Unfortunately, I cannot close my eyes to the facts. And again, no one is preaching here, this is about enlightening. Because even after years, people keep coming by with little or no knowledge of the subject and are usually glad when their ignorance is cleared up. Which system is then chosen is entirely up to each individual. The fact is, however, that many (here in the forum) have decided on KNX and are very happy about it.
Price examples: 4-button switch 26€ 4-channel actuator 40€ Dimming actuator 40€ Shutter actuator 40€ Sensors vary greatly. Mostly around 100€. Up to 200€ outdoors. Switchable socket 85€ If you offset the saved wiring, you can compensate quite a bit of the extra component cost.
Phew no thanks, rather KNX, it will be cheaper, more reliable and more comfortable. The wiring itself is usually not as expensive as one imagines. It is the larger distributors and the installations. But you need these with other systems too, assuming you want to do everything according to the applicable regulations and do it “right” from the start. Admittedly, with KNX you often make everything about 1/3 bigger again, but you don’t have to. KNX can also be done with a mini distributor and little cable. For a low four-figure amount. This is another advantage, it can be small or large. It depends on what the customer wants.
And nonsense, please only blame yourself. EnOcean was founded in 2001, KNX was decided in 2002. EIB is the predecessor but not equal to KNX!
I think we can end the discussion here. It leads nowhere anyway. There is a lack of basic knowledge and understanding here.
