Good morning,

I just registered and hope that I can quickly find and read your answers (if hopefully any come)!
My boyfriend and I are building a house and soon we have our architect meeting.
I am completely fascinated by the topic "lighting concept" and would really love to implement a bit of it in our home (indirect lighting, LED strips and spots etc).
Now I have learned HOW EXPENSIVE all of this unfortunately is (LED spots starting at 450 euros, if you want to flush-mount them in the ceiling etc).
Do you have any tips on how to implement this relatively cheaply?
I think you can also do a lot with the cheap adhesive strips, right? But don’t they look cheap after a while and come off? Also, then there are cables lying everywhere, which I absolutely don’t want! Does anyone have experience with that?

I’m looking forward to your answers!!

Hello, welcome to the forum,
there are already several threads on the topic of lighting design,
the search function should provide results.
Just briefly, you should consider different tasks of light,
e.g. at the dining table,
between red wine mood and playing cards and picking bones from the fish, the light should fit.
Every room needs general lighting, ambient lighting, possibly task lighting.
What do you want to do with light when and where, and only then plan the lighting accordingly.

What does your "lighting concept" mean? What planning is it based on? Why and where and what? Where did you find that out? Of course you can do a lot with them. But again, what is your goal? If you move away from recessed ceiling spots because they are too expensive for you and then suddenly switch to LED strips, you have a completely different concept. Whereas concept means that you plan the lighting. Light can have different functions, e.g. simply bright in the hallway, accentuated spots on pictures or art, indirect lighting for a cozy atmosphere, light above the dining table, different lighting for TV evenings, etc. And even spots can follow different concepts depending on installation location or beam angle, brightness, and color temperature.

If you want spots, then the first fundamental question is whether to have a suspended ceiling or not. In addition to the different types of lights, it is important to choose the appropriate light color for each application. The color rendering index should also not be neglected for specific areas.

Spots are outdated and way too expensive,
look at LED panels or other lights.
Lamps with E27/E14 sockets are more sustainable and the intelligence is built into the lamps

The personal motives are the most important here, followed by one's own definition of what a "concept" is supposed to mean at all. Thanks to affordable house planning software, there are lively business idea jumpers everywhere who, under the lofty term "lighting planning," often create little more than lamp shopping lists with computer animations (and all the other semi-useful things for which you can design fancy business cards).
