Hello,

I am considering installing LED spots in the new kitchen. Could someone tell me which ones are any good? There are many different providers on Ebay, but I have no overview.

How many spots are needed per m² to properly illuminate a living space / kitchen, assuming 3W spots?

Thanks!

As a guideline: We have 2 build-up spotlights with 9 watts each - they illuminate about 12 sqm. But consider the additional costs of hanging ceilings or having holes made in the concrete ceiling. Then the electrician's installation also costs quite a bit. With drywall, you can do it yourself.

I still have to suspend the ceilings myself, i.e. I could make the holes in one go. Our kitchen is also about 12sqm - so I could manage with roughly 6 spots at 3W each?

Hello filth,

what kind of lighting do you have now in your kitchen? Is it enough for you or do you want more?

A 60W incandescent bulb, for example, has about 710lm (lumens), a 40W incandescent bulb about 410lm, which corresponds approximately to a 9W energy-saving lamp. A 5W LED produces about 405lm. More precise information can be found on the packaging or homepage. With your existing lighting, you can calculate the lumens and then the number of LEDs you need.

Just as important as the lumen number (i.e. brightness) is the light color. My first LEDs were cool white, which led to my family not using the lighting! Cool white (about 5,000K). I would recommend a warm white with under 3,000K.

Good luck

Hello,

at the moment we have a conventional lamp with bulbs. However, it is a different room - we are moving into the house new.
I have already noticed the problem with the light color and would then also pay attention to warm white.

Many
thanks
