What about the baseboards?

And also with normal installation, they are standard priced. Rectified just means that the edges have been reworked – otherwise, they are tiles like any other. And they can be installed just the same. If you don’t insist on a 1-2 mm grout joint, there is no difference in installation.
By the way, I couldn’t even say when I last saw decent tiles that weren’t rectified/calibrated. This is standard, especially for porcelain stoneware!

Then I pay for the cutting and the edges remain rectified anyway. I won’t even save 600 euros on 50 sqm. So it’s not worth it, and with the wood-effect tiles, it’s precisely what makes them look like wooden planks. 60 x 20 looks silly.

I will now ask if they also have non-rectified tiles; with the wall tiles that’s about 90 sqm, and then I have my 2000 euros.

I just had the feeling in the showroom that except for the very cheap tiles, all were rectified.

That would be a bit like a restaurant owner bringing pre-filleted fish to his chef, and he immediately asks for a raise. There are probably cases like that, but you know where you stand.

If you haven’t sampled directly at the manufacturer, the lady at the showroom couldn’t possibly know what prices the installer is charging or what is agreed as "standard" in the triangle between you, the general contractor, and the installer. Presumably, they have hundreds of installers who send their customers there to sample.

She can of course only give you her recommended retail price, and as an installer, only the net price initially matters. You are just sampling there; the installer is doing the purchasing. And if they have extra work because of your choice, THEY will name you a price, not the lady from the showroom. It is almost always the same with sanitary installations. Have you been through that yet?

No, we selected samples directly with the tiler who is also carrying out the work. He has his own corresponding showroom. The lady who advised us also wrote the offer.

The prices in the showroom should therefore also be the prices the tiler charges the end customer. They were also marked with gross and net prices. Of course, we assumed the gross price. However, she ordered the wood-effect tile separately. We had previously chosen a similar tile which was no longer available, but it would have been significantly cheaper. Since they had nothing similar in the showroom, the lady ordered samples from various manufacturers again. Unfortunately, this super expensive one (95 euros per sqm, I find that very expensive) was the only one that matched the color tone. The others were either too dark, reddish, or grayish. However, the tile was not labeled, and of course, it could be that she accidentally gave us the net tile price. She just looked in the list, and of course, a mistake could have happened there. I don't want to assume intent on her part. Still, if I had known that, I wouldn't have asked for an offer for the tile.

But at least we have now removed the stainless steel profiles. Aluminum is fine for me as well. From the beginning, I didn't want stainless steel, but she persuaded us to go for it.

Let's see if they will come down on the price for us otherwise. Or if we will choose different tiles after all.
