I have no objection to choosing tiles. But I think one should not limit oneself to wood-look tiles.

I agree with you on that.

This is what it looks like then (note that even the cushions are individually protected):

I have two small children, one of whom unfortunately is equipped with a few special effects. We now have parquet flooring, and that was really not cheap, but even the best parquet can't withstand utensils slammed onto the floor out of anger in the long run. It is also currently difficult to make my children understand that they should not walk over the floor with dirty shoes.

I am not someone who gets upset about every scratch, but the parquet in our living and dining area, especially around the dining table, looks awful.

I like parquet especially in the living area, but for our needs, it is definitely not the right floor at the moment.

Ultimately, we have to decide what we like and what we don't. Just as I shake my head about your parquet in the kitchen, you are allowed to shake your head about me preferring wood-effect tiles. To each their own.

And whether you really get exceptionally good parquet including laying/gluing for 150-160 euros per sqm is something I would now doubt.

My point here was simply to what extent the additional costs quoted by the tiler are realistic. Since I had no idea about this before, I wanted to exchange views on the matter.

How we deal with the offer, whether we accept it or not, is another matter. Of course, it is a lot, and we are considering where and how we can save, but we will also discuss that with our tiler. Maybe there are cheaper tiles, maybe we save somewhere else. We will see.

That's right, for that price there is no exceptionally good parquet, but exceptionally good and solid plank flooring, which then plays in a completely different league. At the price you mentioned, I wouldn't even waste a thought on tiles—except maybe 150x150 or similar. The good (normal) parquet is available from 30€/sqm...

Okay hmm, we probably paid a lot for our parquet at 90 euros per sqm from the hardware store, without installation, and my father-in-law got a crazy price at 180 euros including installation.

Parquet is out of the question for us.
But I want the look.
Everything else is my problem.

This is now off topic for me here.
