Kitchen backsplash, which material?

We received two safety glass panels from the carpenter. A photo was mounted on the back (rapeseed field picture and one from vacation (mountain + lake). The panel was practically glued and sealed in one go. Sockets were also cut out. I find this highly recommendable because it is individual and easy to clean.
The cost for both panels (~140*60cm and ~240*60cm) with a total of three cutouts was 1200€

quite honestly, I would have preferred to spend the €1200 on a better countertop that can handle water, because yours doesn’t look so great anymore.

There are foils in different thicknesses and qualities that seem quite decent, but then again cost almost as much as glass.

I also prefer glass and recently installed a glass splashback with a design for us. However, we decided against covering the entire back wall, and only installed a "small part" in the wet area. Along the entire length there is a base as a "wipe strip" with a height of 8 cm.
There are hundreds of different designs in various sizes for relatively little money. I didn’t want to put mine on silicone dots (had that before) and now simply placed it "on top" of the base and "fixed" it behind the wall cabinet at the top. A silicone joint at the lower edge will hopefully be completely sufficient.
There are also ones with eyelets for hanging...

After a while, you can easily remove the splashback at any time and, for example, replace it with another design.
Personally, I therefore also recommend not to cover the entire wall, but rather to set "points" and keep it as flexible/exchangeable as possible.
