Is the heat pump outdoor unit installed correctly?

Hello everyone,

today I'm asking on behalf of a neighbor ;-)

I walked through our construction area today, saw the construction with the heat pump outdoor unit shown in the picture, and thought to myself: That can't be right?!

I always thought that the foundation with the two elevations on the left and right is meant for placing the outdoor unit on exactly these two elevations. This construction seems rather nonsensical to me, I neither understand the purpose of the white "substructure" under the heat pump nor the black cross braces. It rather seems as if the heat pump is wider than the cast foundation and in the attempt to still attach the heat pump to it, one corner of the foundation broke off (front right) – after which this construction, now to be admired, was chosen.

Since we will also be getting a Stiebel heat pump and the foundation is already cast, I naturally wonder if it will look like this for us as well or if the unit was even installed properly at all. Does anyone have experience with this?

Thank you very much in advance!

You can do it that way. The black crossbars are screwed to the foundation. Nice? I would have done it differently and have done so. But here too, the crossbars extend far outward.

OK, that doesn't mean it's nice, but it can be done like that? I just found the combination of foundation, cross braces, and then the white base visually a bit strange; I hope my heating engineer will solve it a bit more nicely for us...

A spacer is advisable if otherwise rainwater threatens to come from below… The device in the picture is positioned at door threshold level.

Looks like "incorrect measurement" to me. I’m not making a foundation just to transfer the load like that afterward. I would also "install" rubber pads for sound isolation. (see Nordanney).

For us, it stands on a base, but without cross braces. Regarding the appearance: We have a Viessmann system and we have received covers which can be built around this "unsightly" lower frame (the console). I can't send a photo because we haven't installed the covers yet :D They will only be put on once the outdoor setup is done, until then they would just get unnecessarily dirty and scratched.

It's called some kind of console cover and for us it's in the same color tone as the outdoor unit.
