Is the floor plan for the living room and hallway too narrow?

I really don’t know how to put a sofa in the living room, like it’s drawn? That only leaves room for a small 2-seater sofa 2m wide and everyone still walks past it. What is supposed to happen with the space behind the sofa? Why put up with the stairs on the upper floor? Having to go down three steps and then back up every time you go from the bedroom to the children’s room? With such gimmicks, my kids would definitely have tried to jump over the steps and would have hopped back and forth there.
